Oh, come on...we want to see things like 'my 4 most embarrassing moments', 4 things I hope no one remembers I did, 4 reasons my parents ruined my life, the 4 oldest things in my closet, 4 items I wish were made of rubber...you know, INTERESTING stuff!

You've done a magnificent job of cataloging the experience everyone who is ulitimately going to be truly prepared for his/her own demise must endure. For those of us who either can't explain it as eloquently or who cannot handle this degree of circumspection without losing the ability to simultaneously communicate our feelings, thank you.

Okay...two things: One, Wyoming is NOT in the Mid-West---it's in the actual WEST (Not northwest, southwest or mid-west). The midwest is like Kansas, Iowa, etc. Low, flat, arid places full of cornfields. It is also the Bible Belt. Is that what you don't like? On the other hand, if you are picturing the Rockies, filled with craggy, snow-dowsed peaks, clear, deep lakes fed by rivers that have dropped over thundering waterfalls, wearing away their rockbeds as they travel, then you can have a pre-determined bias against this movie.

Two, as a founding member of the Christmas-movie movement, I would like to list my preferences (based sheerly on personal enjoyment within the Christmas season in which they were first viewed since the tradition was originally established as a diversion from reality--not artistic merit or overall lasting qualities although those factors may have played a part in the enjoyment).

Here goes:

1. Brokeback Mountain (overwhelmingly the best based on any and all of the above mentioned criteria).
2. Sabrina
3. Immortal Beloved (partly because of the trip to NYC to see it.)
4. Beethoven
5. Polar Express
6. Cast Away
7. As Good as it Gets
8. A Beautiful Mind
9. Grumpier Old Men
10.Mona Lisa Smile
11.Catch Me If You Can
12.Beethoven's 2nd
13.Patch Adams
14.Michael
15.Talented Mr. Ripley (since I fell asleep during this one).

I haven't read it to her yet. I did order her Xmas presents, though. A pink sweater and a purple fleece coat to keep her warm while she is deciding whether or not she wants to do her business outside.
She is very fashion-conscious. Shhh, though.
It is a secret. (She still believes in Santa.)

I'll bet that Grandma is somewhere nudging other celestial (we hope) beings and saying "That's my grandson!" The one attribute that I could on her to take pride in was my sense of humor--thinking that I'd inherited it from her. I'm sure she's extremely happy to know that it's passed on to yet another generation of us glaringly white folks.
