This is greybean.com version 5.0 (codename: keaton).
The live redesign is currently 8% complete.
Okay, a couple quick things:
1. The Yankees freaking stink. I guess that’s pretty apparent, however.

2. Gary Sheffield should a.) have been ejected from that game in Boston and b.) definitely be suspended. It appears as though neither of those things are going to happen, however. Here’s the thing: Sheffield’s job in that situation is to do absolutely nothing. Walk away. Not shove the guy off of him. Walk away. Regardless of what the guy did. As long as Sheffield isn’t in danger of being severely injured (which was certainly not the case as the guy was no longer in contact with him) he needs to walk away and let security handle it. There is no situation where a player should ever act violently toward a fan. That and betting on games are the two most serious infractions against the game that a player can make. Frank Francisco, the Texas reliever who threw a chair at a fan last year, should’ve been permanently banned from the game. As should Ron Artest and Jermaine O’Neal and every other player who laid a hand on anyone in the stands that night be permanently banned from the NBA. I don’t understand how more people don’t feel that way.

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
This might be two Monday nights in a row without rain. I haven’t gone out there yet, though, so I could be wrong. It did rain this morning, however.
A couple things: 1. Ocean’s Twelve has a website and a teaser trailer (if you can call it that). The teaser has a pretty awesome look to it, but don’t think you’re gonna learn anything about the movie. Or even see a single frame of film. Nevertheless, I cannot wait.
2. thedigitalbits.com is reporting a September 28 street date for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Also, it’s listed at a $29.98 SRP. Considering that it’s a Universal title you can expect that to mean that it’ll be a two-disc deal.

Three quick bits of info:
1. A day after I picked him up for the ‘Bugs, Anaheim relief pitcher Francisco Rodríguez gave up more runs (3) than he had the entire season to date (2) while blowing both the hold and the save and earning the loss against the Indians tonight. Incredible.
2. Have you guys seen the new cover art for Kill Bill Volume 2? Well, here’s the old art:

Some quick ‘Bugs updates: we went 5-4-1 last week against Elliott’s team, the Juiced Team Heros (sic). That’s three weeks in a row with a 5-4-1 record. But, the tough part of the schedule is now over. I’ve made a couple moves in the last week and a half as well: Mark Bellhorn has come and gone. I dropped Richie Sexson today as he is scheduled to have season-ending surgery next week. Picked up Atlanta catcher Johnny Estrada as an interim replacement. His acquisition gives me the flexibility to move Pittsburgh’s excellent right fielder Craig Wilson (who is also eligible as a catcher and first baseman in my league) out from “behind the plate” into my outfield and he can bring his .356/12/34 (plus 34 runs scored) season with him. Also, I dropped Arthur Rhodes as it looks like Oakland is going with a closer-by-committee plan for now. Oh, and Troy Percival is day-to-day with inflammation in his pitching elbow (which might explain his recent ineffectiveness) and might hit the DL shortly. So, I’ve picked up Justin Duchscherer and Francisco Rodríguez who seem likely to get some save opportunities in Oakland and Anaheim, respectively, over the coming week or weeks.
Oh, and, by the way, the Cutters are now 7-0. And they won all three of their preseason exhibition games as well. Infielder Gavin Fingleson, our favorite player, is gonna be out for a few weeks with a separated shoulder. Bummer.
Can I just mention that it’s Monday night and it rained?? With thunder and lightning, no less.
Also, I should mention for those of you who are paying attention (and who exactly is that, by the way?) that my fantasy baseball team, the Scottish Bugs, completed its first trade this past Sunday. Silvestre’s Team received Atlanta OF J.D. Drew and Chicago White Sox SP Scott Schoeneweis in exchange for RP Troy Percival of the Anaheim Angels. Arthur Rhodes has been disappointing so far and Jorge Julio isn’t on a good enough team to rack up the saves consistently so I needed some help in that department. Hopefully this’ll do it.
We had a pretty mediocre week again, going 5-4-1. This is a tough part of the schedule for the Bugs. As the #5 (of twelve) team in the league we’ve played over the last three weeks the #2, #4 and #1 teams, respectively. This week we play the #3 team, Juiced Team Heros (which is, by the way, Elliott’s team). Statistically, last week went very well. We led the league in five categories (runs, HR, RBI, AVG, strikeouts) and came in second in another (wins). It just so happens that the team we played - Scuffed Balls, the best team in the league - beat us in the other four categories and tied us for the league lead in homeruns (10). And that leads to a lackluster 5-4-1 record for the week. Hopefully I’ll get some wins back against Elliott this week (whose team mine would’ve gone 8-1-1 against last week).
Hey, how’s about this: I actually have some movie news for the first time in, uhh, nine months or something. Movie news on this new version of the site will (intentionally) appear sporadically at best and only when bits of info seem particularly interesting to me. The general interest stuff that I used to put up on the old site is available all over the internet and I’ll let you find it on your own. Having said that…
First I should note that there is finally a real trailer for Pixar’s The Incredibles up on apple.com. Also, Michael Mann’s Collateral looks very interesting. And there’s a new trailer for Alex Proyas’s I, Robot, and I really think it looks like it might be good. I’m definitly curious.
Do you see what I’m saying? Here it is, Monday night, I just took out the trash (early this week), and it’s raining. Amazing.
I made some wholesale changes to the ‘Bugs after another so-so (5-4-1) week. More about that tomorrow.
